How Daily Fix Checks a Claim

Not every source deserves the same weight. Daily Fix uses the following hierarchy when researching and verifying public-affairs stories.

Level 1: Original records

Legislation, court opinions, official vote totals, agency data, executive orders, regulatory filings, transcripts, financial reports, public records, and complete recorded remarks. When the dispute is about what a document says, readers should be able to see the document.

Level 2: Independent reporting

Reporting from organizations with identifiable reporters, editorial accountability, correction practices, and direct access to people or events. Ideological alignment does not make a report true or false; evidence, sourcing, and corroboration determine the weight it receives.

Level 3: Expert interpretation

Analysis from people with relevant legal, economic, scientific, military, or institutional expertise. Expertise informs interpretation, but it is not presented as an uncontested fact when qualified experts disagree.

Level 4: Claims requiring verification

Social posts, campaign statements, advocacy material, anonymous accounts, leaked excerpts, screenshots, and short video clips may identify a story worth checking. They are not treated as sufficient proof without provenance and corroboration.
